The minister of ports, harbours and railways, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has directed all shipping agents operating in Tema and Takoradi ports to charge the cedi equivalent of fifty-five dollars only as ?administration fee? per transaction or per bill of lading for the handling of containers.
By this directive, all other local charges levied by shipping agents on consignees such as container evacuation fee, container maintenance fee, container clearing costs and refer monitoring and plugging fee, among others are abolished.
