Sunyani, Feb. 23, GNA – Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, at the weekend arrived in the region to a tumultuous welcome by National Democratic Congress faithful and government officials as he prepares to assume office. The new Regional Minister, who was met at Bechem, later called on Nana Adwoa Dwamena Serwaa 11, Queenmother and other elders of Bechem. He expressed his determination to work for the accelerated development of the region.
Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo stressed that the region “needs a new turn” and pledged to ensure the completion of development projects that would help to improve the economic and health conditions of the people. He also called on the chiefs and people Duayaw Nkwanta, Abesim and Sunyani and thanked all for the warm welcome accorded him, promising that as a son of the region, he would not let them down. Earlier on Saturday, the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with Zoomlion Company, mobilized residents of Sunyani to undertake a massive cleaning exercise. For several hours personnel of the security services, civic organisations, women’s groups and keep fit clubs cleared bushy areas and gutters.
