New Army Commander takes office

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn into office Major General Obed Boamah Akwa as the new Chief of Army Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Major General Obed Boamah Akwa was until his appointment the Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

President Mahama appointed Major General Akwa this month in consultation with the Council of State.
