New Anglican priests ordained

Sunyani (B/A), July 3, GNA – The Right Reverend Thomas Ampah Brient, Anglican Bishop of Sunyani at the weekend called on the clergy to inculcate moral values into Church members instead of focusing on wealth acquisition.

Bishop Brient who ordained three deacons of the Church into priesthood at St. Anselm’s Cathedral Church in Sunyani, urged the Clergy to preach against envy, lies, jealousy, animosity and other forms of iniquities.

The priests, who completed a thee-year Bible course at the Anglican Theological College in Cape Coast, were Rev Joseph Awuku Agyemang, 49, Rev Erasmus Ashitey, 29 and the Rev Dennis Kofi Anane, 32.

Rev Brient said it was necessary for the Church to properly train pastors to enable them to provide leadership required to transform the lives of both members and non-members.

Rev. Canon Nick Ash, from the Anglican Church in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, advised the new priests to consider themselves as vehicles of changes and work towards the elimination of poverty, diseases and ignorance.

He also urged them to provide sound pastoral and spiritual leadership and expressed the hope that they would work hard to develop the Church.

Rev. Ash appealed to members of the Church to assist in propagating the gospel. The priests l ater swore oath of allegiance to conform to the Doctrines of the Church and declared to consent to rules and regulations governing the Church. 03 July 04
