Accra, Nov. 8, GNA – A 1.2 million euro agreement was on Monday signed between The Netherlands Government and the Government of Ghana for the completion of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre (KIPTC) at Teshie, Accra.
Mrs Agnes Van Ardenne, The Netherlands’ Foreign Minister for Development Cooperation, who signed on behalf of her country, said her Government considered the Centre to be of paramount importance in improving Africa’s peacekeeping capabilities.
She said The Netherlands was also prepared to assist Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) members with military assistance in the area of security.
Mrs Ardenne lauded Ghana’s efforts towards improving the peace and security situations in the West Africa Sub-Region. Nana Addo Dankwa Akkufo-Addo Foreign Minister, who signed on behalf of Ghana, said the Centre was important as far as the development of mechanisms to help end the numerous conflicts on the African Continent was concerned.
