Nelson Mandela knew when to get off the stage – Nduom

As we all celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela, let us bring the positives we associate with him alive and use them – he chose one term of office as President when he could have stayed on.

He knew when to get off the stage. He had played his part. He knew how to motivate, encourage and bring people together and in so doing avoided a bitter struggle for power.

Mandela loved his country and his people and it showed in his actions not words. When he left the stage, he jumped onto a bigger one, that of the world and left behind a partisan political one. Imagine if we could live these and other positives.

Well done, Nelson Mandela, well done!
