Negligent driver fined for hitting pedestrian

Tema, Nov. 5, GNA – The Tema Circuit court “B” has fined a driver 600,000 cedis for negligently causing harm to a pedestrian in Tema Community Two.

John Ampeah who pleaded guilty to driving without care and causing harm, will go to prison for 12 months if he fails to pay the fine. Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the Court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that the accused, who was driving a bus with registration number GR 8829 T, on reaching Community Two, failed to observe traffic and “without due care and attention”, hit the pedestrian who was walking by the side of the road.

The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the Tema General Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
