Need to assist retired workers to access pension money

Dr Victor Agyeman, Director of the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG), has asked the Institute to find better ways of assisting its retired officers to access their retirement packages.

He said some of the retirees go through stress before accessing their pension entitlement from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust and the paltry monthly money, which should be a source of concern to the people.

Dr Agyeman was speaking at the annual get-together organized by FORIG at Fumesua in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, to reward its officers on retirement, and those who had worked assiduously.

Eight retirees, who had worked for between 27 and 35 years, and five serving officers were presented with Television sets, deep freezers, fridges, roofing sheets, music systems and citations.

Dr Joseph Cobbinah, a former Director of the Institute, and Mrs Stella Britwum Acquah, a Systems Analyst, received special awards for their significant contributions to the growth of FORIG.

Dr Agyeman praised the staff for their hard work, which had helped the Institute to achieve its set targets and asked them to continue with the good job.
