Ned Nwoko denies marrying Regina Daniels at 17

Nigerian politician and businessman, Ned Nwoko, has publicly refuted viral claims suggesting he married actress Regina Daniels when she was 17 years old.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, November 13, Nwoko described the allegations as “false, misleading, and entirely untrue.”

According to Ned Nwoko, during his first meeting with Regina, he inquired about her age, and she stated she was 21 years old at the time. He added that she presented her INEC voter’s card, which indicated she was born on October 10, 1998.

“I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day,” he said, emphasising that the records are verifiable.

Ned Nwoko further noted that their marriage took place six years ago, which, by his account, makes Regina 27 years old today. He cited a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother after the marriage as additional confirmation of her age.

Addressing the current tensions between the couple, Nwoko urged the public to treat Regina’s statements with caution, alleging that her recent behaviour is influenced by an ongoing struggle with drug addiction.

He stated, “Until this is done, I urge the public to approach all her claims with caution and discernment, especially taking into account her current mental condition, having started and abandoned her rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction.”

The comment comes amid a public back-and-forth between the actress and her husband, which has sparked widespread reactions across social media. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, have two children together.
