Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has said voting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into power again in the 2012 elections would amount to a major mistake on the part of Ghanaians.
The two parties, he said, had shown their worth in governance, clearly exhibiting their inability to address the socio-economic problems facing Ghanaians, especially jobs for the youth.
Dr Nduom said this on Wednesday, during a day’s tour of the southern part of the Volta Region, during which he interacted with the people and also paid courtesy calls on chiefs.
The visit which took Dr Nduom to Aflao, Keta, Anloga and Sogakope, his aides said was to market himself and PPP ahead of the December elections.
He urged people to vote for the PPP which offered the best alternative, assuring them a PPP government would not let them down.
Dr Nduom said the hard working and loyal people of the Volta Region did not deserve the “unfair treatment by the previous governments,” in terms of development, particularly the NDC, which has the region as a stronghold.
He said his government would facilitate the mining of all untapped natural resources abundant in the region to create jobs for the people.
At the Aflao border, Dr Nduom expressed disquiet at the many abandoned projects, which formed part of the Aflao Border Complex started in 1972.
Chiefs including Togbe Sri III, Awomefia of Anlo, Togbe Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao and Togbe James Ocloo V, Chief of Keta, who received Dr Nduom, all called for decorum and civility during and after the 2012 elections to ensure the country’s stability.**
