Nduom urges children to strive to excel

Elmina, Dec. 18, GNA- The Minister of Public Sector Reform, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom on Saturday advised the youth in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) district against engaging in anti-social activities that would jeopardize their future and also retard the development of the area.

Dr. Nduom, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the KEEA constituency gave the advice at a Christmas party organised by the management of Coconut Grove Hotels for some selected school children from the district. Over 500 children were served packed lunch, toffees, biscuit and chocolate while Pepsi Cola, supported the programme by providing its company’s soft drinks with Ankaful Catholic church choir providing melodious music.

The children were also treated to entertaining activities, including musical chairs, dancing competition and fun games and were presented parcels and cash prizes at the hotel’s premises at Elmina. The MP urged them to take good care of themselves, study hard and strive to excel in all their endeavours, adding that he was advocating for support for more needy children in the area.

Dr. Nduom said government is doing all it could to develop all communities in the country but, it was imperative on all Ghanaians to play their respective roles effectively and efficiently to ensure that its vision of eradicating poverty was achieved.

Mr Lankesha Ponnamperuma (repeat Ponnamperuma) General Manager of the Coconut Grove Hotels said this was the sixth anniversary since the inception of the children’s party by the hotel’s management, adding that the event was taken to the children for the first five years and that this year’s event was held at the Coconut Beach Resort at Elmina for a change.
