Nduom tackles Batidam over corruption comment

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has criticized Daniel Batidam for his comment that Ghanaians expect too much from government on matters of fighting corruption.

The presidential advisor on corruption is widely reported to have downplayed recent corruption allegations against the presidency.

“Ghanaians expect too much from government when it comes to fighting corruption,” Mr Batidam is quoted as saying.

Dr Nduom who is the presidential candidate for the PPP is livid by that statement, asking whether Mr Batidam actually meant what he is reported to have uttered.

Here is Dr Nduom’s full statement on his facebook page

It has been reported in the media that Presidential Advisor on Corruption and Governance, Daniel Batidam, has stated categorically that the Ghanaians expect too much from the government when it comes to fighting corruption.

He reportedly said: “Well it’s easy to say anybody is corrupt, when it comes to prosecution that is where I think that sometimes we are expecting too much from the presidency or the executive arm of government in general”

Has something happened to Mr. Batidam at the Presidency? He was known as an anti-corruption crusader so has he lost his spear and shield? When it comes to corruption, the rot that robs Ghana of at least $1 billion every year, there can be nothing as too much expectation.

We must and will continue to pressurize all political administrations and all other arms of government until good progress is made.

This is another reason to separate the Office of Attorney General from the Ministry of Justice and allow for independent prosecution.

And I want to know. Does President Mahama agree with his advisor on this? Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom
