The National Democratic Party (NDP) has filed an action against the Electoral Commission (EC) for what it describes as the violation of its rights, a release signed by its Secretary General Mohammed Frimpong, has said.

It stated that the party was stirred as a result of what it describes as blatant violation of the party’s rights for refusing to accept its nomination forms as well as disqualifying it candidate for contesting in the December presidential election.

The release indicated that “We assure all Ghanaians and our teeming supporters that this matter is not over, not by a long shot.

“We shall continue to fight to ensure that persons in public offices respect the Commission of the land and laws that are passed to protect ordinary citizens from arbitrariness, capriciousness and prejudice and actions that breach the due process of the law and requirement imposed by law.”

The NDP were in court today on the preliminary objections to its suit raised by the EC, six were dismissed but the court upheld one objection that were not permitted to ask for judicial review and enforcement of fundamental human rights in the same case eve.

The EC, last week disqualified 13 Presidential aspirants including NDP candidate Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings for the December Polls.
