NDC’s NEC promulgates regulation to endorse Mahama

The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has passed a regulation to endorse President John Mahama at the party’s Special National Delegates Congress slated for August 31.

Regulation of the National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress in Relation to the 2012 Presidential Election.

In pursuant of the residual powers vested in the National Executive Committee by virtue of Article 50 of the Constitution of the NDC, this regulation is hereby made:

1. For the purpose of the 2012 Presidential Election, the elected presidential candidate having died less than 12 months before the election and it being impracticable to comply with Article 44 of the NDC constitution on the Election of Presidential Candidates, the designated Vice Presidential Candidate of the deceased Presidential Candidate shall, subject to regulation 2 hereunder, be presented as the candidate for approval at a Special National Delegates Congress as the Presidential Candidate of the party for the 2012 Presidential Election.

2. The National Executive Committee shall issue the necessary guideline to give effect to this regulation.

3. Interpretation: In this regulation, election means the 2012 Presidential Election organized by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
