NDC’s economic management team ‘dead’- Bawumia

President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has described the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) economic management team as ‘dead’.

Dr Bawumia said the management team of NDC is no more functioning due its incompetence.

He said the NDC’s economic management team couldn’t reduce taxes in its 8 years in government.

He indicated that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has replaced incompetent team (NDC) with competent team in the management of the economy.

‘…I must say, without any fear or contradiction, our President has indeed replaced incompetence with competence in the management of our economy… It is humbling to see the galaxy of competent people the President has assembled, …the economic management team is quite clearly a fantastic team.

‘In fact, can anyone remember the NDC economic management team?. I am sure they themselves cannot remember who their economic management team was,’ he said.

According to him, the era of reckless borrowing which increased the country’s debt to GDP ratio from 32% at the end of 2008 to 73% at the end of 2016, placing a huge burden on the country.

Dr Bawumia assured that the Akufo-Addo’s government is working around the clock to make Ghanaians prosperous.

Speaking during New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Annual Delegates’ Conference in Cape Coast of the Central Region, the Vice President stated, “In the 8 years of the NDC economic management, how many taxes did they reduce? We promised to restore macroeconomic stability and we have done that in just 7 months….The era of reckless borrowing which increased our debt to GDP ratio from 32% at the end of 2008 to 73% at the end of 2016 and placed a huge burden on this country,… thankfully is over.

“We have completed the process of procuring and we are about to roll out a digital property addressing system in Ghana. There is a lot of work that has gone on into it”.

The Economic Management Team of the Akufo-Addo’s government include: Dr Bawumia, Alan Kyeremanteng Minister of Trade and Industry, Ken Ofori Atta Minister of Finance, Yaw Osafo Marfo Senior Minister, Prof. Gyan Baffour, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Boakye Agyarko Minister of Energy among others.
