NDC’s 1m vote target in Ash region mere hallucination – Akufo-Addo

The three-time flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that the one million votes being targeted in the Ashanti region by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not materialise.

According to him, the NDC’s quest will only remain a mirage as far as the 2016 elections are concerned.

Addressing a group of party supporters who paid a courtesy call on him at his Nima residence in Accra Wednesday, the former attorney general said the NPP is eyeing over eighty percent of the votes in its stronghold in the upcoming elections.

“Party’s leadership has targeted nothing less than 85% of the popular vote in the Ashanti region,” reassuring them that: “We will get it in 2016.”

“Ghana is retrogressing under the Mahama government.

“All the gains chalked by President Kufuor have been eroded within 6 years of the NDC government taking over the reins of office.

“We have a duty as members of the NPP to make sure Ghana works again, and we have no choice but to win the 2016 election,” Akufo-Addo said.

On the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party, the former foreign affairs minister urged the party supporters to conduct themselves and the process in a manner devoid of rancour or mudslinging, and give all aspirants the opportunity to present their case.

“You need to elect people you believe in, and people who will work for Ghana to succeed. Most people know that it is only the NPP who can bring prosperity, employment for the youth and progress for all.

“We have the men and women who can give this nation good and effective government.”
