NDC youth leader to contest Ablekuma Central seat

Accra, Aug. 1, GNA – Mr. Theophilus Chaire, an Educationist and Marketing Professional has filed his nomination to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries to wrest the Ablekuma Central Constituency seat from the ruling NPP government, come the 2008 general elections.

Mr. Chaire, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra after filing his nomination on Wednesday August 1, described himself as a loyal and dedicated follower of the Party who had held a position as Deputy Regional Secretary.

He said his decision to contest the primaries stemmed from calls by the youth and opinion leaders in the constituency for him to help NDC to achieve victory in the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. He expressed regret that the situation in which the NDC was in the constituency left much to be desired due to lack of co-ordination among the youth and which is creating the impression that the Party was not effective.

Mr Chaire said when given the nod, he would use his organizational and marketing skills, as well as his past experiences to help the youth to understand that NDC deserved a new deal and this is what “I would work towards if elected.”

He also expressed regret that the youth who are regarded as the future leaders lack facilities to enable them to acquire skills that would enable them to leave meaningful lives.

He said, “I would set up resource centres in the constituency to establish a scholarship scheme to enable brilliant but needy students to benefit as well as an employment centre to generate employment for the youth”.
