NDC would reduce petroleum products prices

Agona Swedru, Aug. 24, GNA- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would subsidize the prices of petroleum products and utility bills when it comes to power in 2009 to lessen the burden of Ghanaians, Mr. Samuel Valis Akyianu, Central Regional Chairman of the party has said.

Mr. Akyianu said this at the vetting of the two candidates who have filed their nominations to contest the Agona West Parliamentary Seat at Agona Swedru.

They were Samuel Kweku Tetteh 65, Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Language Department and Mr Ibrahim Zubero 31, Lecturer at Accra Polytechnic and Private Financial Consultant. The Chairman said Ghanaians are suffering from hardship created by mal-administration of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), adding, “now that they have tested NPP and NDC and seen the differences they should massively for the NDC in 2008 elections.

Mr Akyianu stated that NPP claimed that inflation has gone down considerable and economy is booming since they came to power seven and half years ago, but the pockets of Ghanaians are empty. The Chairman urged the party functionaries to let truth and hard work be their guiding principles to enable the party to win more supporters for victory.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs, Central Regional Propaganda Secretary of NDC reiterated that the party would win 14 parliamentary seats, including that of Agona West and East in 2008.

He said the party was seriously restructuring mechanism at wards, constituencies and regional levels to enable them work effectively towards winning power.

Mr. Jacobs said Agona West NPP is deeply divided and facing serious internal wrangling and urged the NDC supporter to capitalize on this to win more support for the party to recapture the parliamentary seat. The Regional Propaganda Secretary stated that NDC is not perturbed about the appointment of MP for Agona West as Deputy Central Regional Minister to retain the seat, but the trend would change in the next elections.

He said elections are not won with big names and urged the members of the party not to allow themselves to be influenced with money to vote for another political party. Mr. Jacobs stressed that Ghanaians are yeaning for the NDC to regain power, saying NDC, as social democratic party would improve the living conditions of the people. 25 Aug. 07
