NDC Will Recapture Power in 2004

THE CHAIRMAN of the NDC re- Organising Committee of the Ashaiman constituency, Mr. Alfred Kwame Agbesi, a barrister-at-law, who also stood as independent candidate in the 2000 elections, has predicted that the NDC will recapture the seat it lost to NPP in 2004.

He was inaugurating constituency executives at a well-attended meeting held at the GPRTU conference hall last Friday.

According to Agbesi, the losing spirit which characterised the last general elections and caught up with members is now being turned into winning spirit to face the NPP.

He asked members to canvass for more membership and those who have defected to come back in the fold of the NDC.

He cautioned the new executives not to be complacent but go onto the field and educate the public about the hardship and other problems facing the country since NDC handed over power to the NPP.

Agbesi also spoke against intimidation of NDC members by the NPP constituency executives, led by Mr. Kofi Agyapong, chairman, who led a group of NPP members and sacked 40 waste management workers from their posts because NDC has ruled for 20 years.

“What disturbs and baffles some of us is the manner the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has handled the matter.

He could not even compensate those workers some of whom have worked for 17-years.

The least being 8 years”. Agbesi advised the members to go about canvassing for membership in a peaceful manner, adding that there are some elements who will make it impossible to do your work but they should exercise the greatest care not to infringe the law.
