NDC will be retained in 2016 – Amaliba

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Abraham Amaliba, is hopeful that the hard times the country is going through will be over, and a larger number Ghanaians will vote to retain the NDC and President Mahama in office come 2016.

Mr. Amaliba indicated that the story is very likely to be different if these harsh living conditions were to remain until 2016.

“In politics one day is even enough for a change to occur, so let’s hope for the better and see what happens.”

He was speaking in an interview with Daily Guide in Bolgatanga ahead of a meeting with some NDC ward executives and communicators.

Amaliba was in the Upper East Region over the weekend to inform the party’s ward executives and other important party members and dignitaries in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency of his intention to contest the Parliamentary?Primaries when nominations are opened.

According Mr. Amaliba, NDC in the Bolgatanga Central needed a change to make the party and the name of the constituency a household one across the country, as the silence of the current Member of Parliament, Opam Brown Akulbire, in Parliament and even in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, was not helping to sell and connect the party to development partners.

His comments come at a time when many NDC diehard supporters in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, have described their Member of Parliament, Opam Brown Akulbire as a “No Action MP” who needed to be changed if the NDC desired to win the that seat.

Critics have said Amaliba is not close to the grassroots people, and many people in the constituency do not even know he hails from the Upper East Region and that he was only taking advantage of the fact that many NDC supporters were disappointed with the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Opam Brown Akulbire.

Amaliba however challenged his critics to research further, saying he served in various capacities in the Upper East Region and even taught at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School before leaving for Accra.
