NDC WARNS GOV?T OVER TAX INCREASE ? PG.4
The NDC has warned the government over any possible tax increases for its budgetary supplements and developmental projects adding that any attempt to further worsen the impoverished conditions of Ghanaians will be resisted with something worse than ?Kumepreko?.
This warning followed a statement by the Minister for Finance, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, on the floor of Parliament when the government stopped pursuance of the International Finance Consortium (IFC) loan that, ?Government has to look inward and raise additional resources domestically to tackle all these problems that cannot wait.?
The NDC at a news conference addressed by a number of its leading members said among other things that, the government should ?cut its coat according to its size? if there is a shortfall in its infrastructure and development fund, and that ?Instead of constructing a dual carriage road from Accra to Kumasi, the government should rather patch
