NDC vows never to relinquish Asawasi seat

Kumasi, June 19, GNA- The Asawasi constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed never to relinquish or loose the parliamentary seat to any other party and would fight hard to maintain it.

The party has, therefore, re-organised its structures at all levels of the constituency, and had also evolved a campaign strategy to canvass for more membership.

Alhaji Gado suleimana, the Asawasi NDC constituency chairman, said these at the constituency executive meeting of the Asawasi NDC, in Kumasi on Saturday.

The meeting deliberated on modalities for the conduct of elections for executives at the ward and branch levels of the constituency, scheduled for June 25, this year.

Alhaji Suleimana said the campaign programme was also aimed at instilling high sense of loyalty in members to enable the party retain the seat.

“The NDC won the Asawasi seat in 1992 and has retained the seat ever since, including a victory in the recently held by-elections, and shall continue to maintain such a lead in the constituency”, he stressed.

Mr J.B. Salifu, NDC constituency secretary for Asawasi, advised members to vote for right-thinking people as executives in the ward and branch executives elections.

He asked the members never to allow monetary considerations to influence their choice of who should be an executive member adding, “your choice should be based on commitment and how industrious candidate is”.

Mr Salifu entreated members to close their ranks, and work as a team, to propel the NDC to victory in the 2008 General Elections.
