NDC used and dumped Metro Mass transit buses – Samuel Ayeh Paye

Chairman for the Roads and Transport Committee and MP for Ayensuano, Samuel Ayeh Paye has bemoaned the state of the Metro Mass Transport (MMT) services.

In a shocking revelation to Parliamentary while debating the 2018 budget and economic policy statement of the government on the floor of Parliament, Wednesday, Hon. Ayeh Paye accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using the MMT for their campaign and dumping it without paying a pesewa for such services.

In the view of the Ayensuano law maker, the NDC left millions of cedis in the books of the MMT as debt before leaving office.

According to him, the NPP prior to leaving office in January 2009, left 1,382 buses in the care of the NDC but after regaining power in 2017, met only 500 buses in operation.

Out of the 500 buses, about 250 buses have been parked and ready to be sold as scraps.

But the Ranking Member of the Roads and Transport Committee, and MP for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza disagreed.

He challenged managers of the MMT to publish the names of those who are owing them.
