It is with great joy and admiration to hear the news of your appointment as AU’s Special envoy to Somalia to help bring lasting peace to the region. It confirms you a true icon in Africa with the requisite experience, selflessness and determination to help move the continent forward in the right direction. Unlike other leaders who use power solely for personal aggrandisement, you stand tall as a true son of Africa.
It is also significant to know that Africans are beginning to take bolder initiatives finding continental solutions to continental problems instead of always looking up to others to do it for us. You have shown commitment to peace on the continent of Africa over the years. You led Ghana to intervene and help bring peace to neighbouring countries in times of great tribulation. Indeed lots of African regard Ghana as a beacon of hope, peace and progress.
We hope that you will get the needed support from the leaders and people of Africa to be able to achieve the required result. We are inspired by your appointment and wish you the very best in the discharge of your responsibilities.
