NDC Treasurer suspended after brawl with Chairman

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended the party’s treasurer at its Ahafo Ano North Constituency branch following a bust-up with the constituency chairman, Samuel Awuni.

Adams Alhassan is reported to have stabbed Mr Awuni in a fight over the weekend as to who takes a party vehicle.

While Alhassan is in police custody, the constituency chairman – who sustained various degrees of injury – is on admission receiving treatment.

A statement from NDC’s Ashanti Region Chairman Yaw Obimpeh on Monday said: “Mr Adams Alhassan (The Treasurer) of Ahafo Ano North Constituency has been suspended with immediate effect pending further investigation”.

The party expressed disdain at the incident, urging all members “to use the appropriate party structures to address all internal grievances.

“The party wishes to remind all its members that serious disciplinary measures will be taken against any member who goes contrary to the rules governing the party.”
