NDC to win all Zongo votes

Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Abokobi Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has said the NDC Zongo Caucus would win all votes belonging to the Zongo Communities in the country in election 2012.

He said people in the Zongo communities are not only Muslims and Northerners as perceived by Ghanaians, saying, “Our zongos are fully occupied by Christians who are mostly Asantes, Ewes and other Christian’s tribes.”

Alhaji Sorogho was addressing members of the NDC Zongo Caucus of the Madina Abokobi Constituency at its campaign launch on Saturday.

He said contrary to perception that the zongo communities are behind progress, he stated, “..the zongos produce all kinds of professionals in the country.”

Alhaji Sorogho added that every political party is now soliciting support from the zongo people, forgetting that the NDC was the favorite party of the zongo people in the country.

“All zongo communities will continue to vote for the NDC and President Atta Mills to continue his good work and the Better Ghana Agenda set by him for the country,” he said.

He said an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Center has been built in the constituency and in collaboration with RLG, an ICT expert has been hired to train people in ICT in the constituency, adding, “more projects such boreholes and school buildings are coming in no time.”

He said the Government has served the zongo communities with all respect and dignity, adding that jobs were created for the youth in the country which the zongo youth was the most beneficiaries.

Alhaji Sorogho called on the people to come out on March 24 to register massively on the biometric registration and urged them to desist from politics of insults but rather campaign with facts.
