NDC to reintroduce school feeding in the northern regions

Bolgatanga, Nov. 20, GNA – The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) will reintroduce the school feeding programme in the three northern regions when the National Democratic Congress wins the elections, Professor John Evans Attta Mills, the party’s presidential candidate ha assured. He said the CRS school feeding programme used to provide meals free of charge to basic schools in those regions. The recent national feeding programme under the NPP is for selected schools in selected districts.

Prof. Mills made the promise when he addressed separates rallies in Bongo-Soe and Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region on Wednesday. He was not happy with the withdrawal of the programme in the three northern regions, and said it had led to a lot of school children being withdrawn from school because parents could not afford to feed them in schools.

He explained that an NDC government as part of its policies would place much emphasis on education, which was key to addressing poverty in the area.

Prof. Mills said the NDC would ensure that the implementation of the school feeding programme covered all deprived schools in the country and added that school children in deprived basic schools in the north would also be provided with free school uniforms. He urged the electorate to be steadfast and not to allow themselves to be influenced by monies but to vote for the NDC that was committed to addressing their needs.

Prof Mills further urged the party supporters and Ghanaians to be vigilant to ensure that the election was conducted in a transparent manner. 20 Nov. 08
