NDC supporters defect to NPP

Agona Nkum (C/R), July 18, GNA – Some 40 members including, Mr Thomas Otsiwah, Vice chairman of the Agona Nkum ward of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Agona West constituency have defected to New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Otsiwah, spokesman for the defectors, said they had decided to join the NPP because of “the pragmatic policies and programmes” embarked upon by the government to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians. He announced the defection at a welcoming meeting organised by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Agona West branch of the NPP.
Mr Otsiwah stated that they had been overwhelmed by the “fast economic growth, political development and the rule of law.” He mentioned some of good policies as the National Health Insurance Scheme, introduction of cocoa mass spraying exercise, national school-feeding programme, free supply of exercise books and capitation grant.
Mr Adofo Dwamena, NPP IMC chairman who welcomed the defectors, commended them for their bold decision to join the ruling the party.
