Two executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Dadiesoaba in the Asutifi District of the Brong Ahafo Region sustained cutlass wounds in an alleged unprovoked attack by NDC supporters led by Alhaji Collins Dauda, former NDC Member of Parliament, for Asutifi South last Sunday.
Nana K. Kusi, Treasurer; and Mr Anthony Boakye, executive member, both of the NPP, were rushed to the Dadiesoaba health centre where they were admitted.
The matter was later reported to the police. Meanwhile, the NPP supporters and members in the area have called on the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command to conduct thorough investigations into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
Mr Ampofo Donkor and Mr Owusu Afriyie, Dadiesoaba NPP Secretary and executive member respectively, told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Monday that about 40 people wearing NDC ‘T’ shirts and led by Alhaji Dauda arrived in the town late in the afternoon in two vehicles.
The former MP led the group from house-to-house greeting known NDC supporters for their solidarity during the recent parliamentary election, amid singing and chanting of NDC songs and slogans.
The group met Nana Kusi and Mr Boakye, who were returning home from their farms at the outskirts of the town.
Without any provocation, they allegedly pounced on the two, beat them up mercilessly and inflicted deep cutlass wounds on the head and face of Nana Kusi.
