Sekondi June 29, GNA – Seven constituency branches of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region at the weekend sent a message to former President Jerry John Rawlings, on the occasion of his 59th birthday, which fell on June 22, 2005. The branches are Sekondi, Takoradi, Shama, Ketan-Essikado, Effia-Kwesimintsm, Ahanta West and Mpohor Wassa East.
The Chairmen of the constituencies signed the message issued after a meeting in Sekondi. The statement said: “Your records of Nationalism, dedicated leadership, patriotism and selflessness are legacy and a measuring rod for all future Presidents to use”.
No attempt can erase your quality leadership and as a result of your good leadership, the NDC government was able to create an enabling environment for business and creation of jobs”. It said in the past four years, attempts have been made to tarnish the Former President’s image but he had become more popular because of his integrity.
