NDC salutes Ghanaian farmers and fishermen

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended felicitation to farmers and fishermen on the occasion of the National Farmers’ Day.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary congratulated farmers and fishermen in Ghana on the occasion for their sacrifices and commitment to the course of the country’s vision of ensuring food sustenance and security.

It said, the NDC appreciates their contribution to the nation’s economy through agricultural production in the face of challenges posed to agriculture in the country.

“We wish to reiterate that the NDC is still committed to strengthening the capacity of farmers and providing the requisite resources to enable the country realize the full potential of Ghanaian farmers and fishermen,” it added.

The statement said with the introduction of mechanised farming, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation facilities and the establishment of the buffer stock Company have impacted positively on the nation’s agricultural sector.

It also reiterated that the government would continue to collaborate with farmers and fishermen to improve agricultural production, ensure food security and stable income for Ghanaian farmers and fishermen.

“The NDC salutes the nation’s gallant farmers and fisherman on this special occasion,” the statement said.
