The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe has taken a slight dig at the former NDC administration noting that their intervention to resuscitate the defunct Komenda Sugar factory was nothing good to write home about.
According to the NPP’s Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser, the NDC only succeeded in shortchanging Ghanaians when they made the move to revive the sugar factory.
Addressing the issue on ATV’s Asem Yi Di Ka show, Kwame Baffoe stated that the NDC bought and installed old equipment which were used in the 1960s to process sugar and created a false impression to Ghanaians that they had gone in for modern equipment.
“The NDC government went in for huge loans but failed to revive the Komenda Sugar factory. They used oil paint to paint the 1960 equipment and only renovated the old buildings around and created a false impression to Ghanaians”, he said.
The former NDC administration led by ex-president John Dramani Mahama managed to secure a loan facility of $24.5m to revamp the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region.
The facility was inaugurated by the former president on Monday, May 30, 2016, and during the inauguration of the factory, he announced that it will create over 7,000 jobs to ensure sustainable development of sugarcane plantations and in turn harness the continuous growth and smooth running of the facility.
