NDC Rally Behind Obed

Support Obed – Mahama Iddrisu Tells Supporters
A leading member of the NDC, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, who lost the chairmanship race at the party’s congress, has asked his supporters to assist the new national executive to build the party into a credible alternative to the NPP in the next elections. In a statement, Alhaji Iddrisu who lost by two votes to Dr. Obed Asamoah, said he has faith in the future of the NDC and asked all members to help in building a cohesive and effective NDC.

In an apparent move to cool down tempers of supporters who are peeved that Dr Asamoah won the chairmanship, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the congress and asked all members to show their loyalty to the party and contribute their quota.

He also appealed to the new Chairman, Dr. Asamoah to take steps to bring back into the fold, regional chairmen who resigned from their positions.

In a related development, the Western regional NDC Parliamentary caucus has asked the region’s chairman, Nana Alex Asamoah, to rescind his decision to resign from the position. The regional chairmen who resigned after the congress have already agreed to reconsider their decision following the intervention of ex-President Jerry Rawlings and the former vice President Professor John Atta Mills.
