NDC Primaries: Nobody can intimidate me – ET Mensah

One of Ghana’s veteran MPs E.T. Mensah has served notice he is prepared for a showdown with his protégé Sam George in the Ningo-Prampram parliamentary race.

The incumbent legislator and the presidential staffer sailed through the vetting process Thursday and will face off in the November 7 parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress.

George and his camp believe Mensah had overstayed the position, and it is about time he made way for a fresh blood with modern ideas to run the constituency.

However, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, who described himself as an “old whiskey” who “tastes better”, believes his opponent is resorting to rough tactics to cow him.

“ET Mensah can never be intimidated, I respect, I’m not arrogant, but nobody can intimidate me. What we are practicing is parliamentary democracy.

“There are no time limits, unless you are defeated by the opposite party, you go as long as you can, provided you feel you are strong enough,” he told the media after receiving a clean bill to contest.
