NDC polls: Suit against me “joke of the century” – Kofi Adams

A deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams, has described a suit that seeks to block him from contesting for the National Organiser slot in the party’s upcoming congress “as the joke of the century”.

Bright Oppong Manu, lawyer for the plaintiff, Yaw Osei Gyamfi said Adams breached certain portions of the party’s constitution and thus not qualified to vie for a national executive position.

Adams was suspended in 2012 after a voice believed to be his, was heard on a leaked secret tape vowing to do anything possible to prevent President John Mills (late) from securing a second term.

But speaking to Joy FM Monday evening, Mr. Adams dismissed the suit against him saying it is a deliberate attempt by his opponents, who feel threatened by his strength, to derail his ambitions.

According to him, he was never suspended from the party but was only asked to step aside for an investigation to take place, after which he was cleared and reinstated.

“I think it is the joke of the country; I was never suspended as a punishment and it is high time people who claim to be lawyers advised themselves and advised their clients.

“I was only asked to step aside for an investigation to be done, which I did, and the investigation came to an end and I was found not to have committed any crime and therefore reinstated with full benefits…so I don’t understand where this is coming from,” Mr. Adams said.

He confidently added that: “Whoever is making this attempt would fail”.
