NDC picks Greater Accra officers

Accra, Nov. 29, GNA – The Greater Accra branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected a businessman, Mr Danny Nii Adjei Annan, as its new Regional Chairman.

He polled 77 votes to defeat two other contestants, Flt. Lt N.G Tackie who had 68 votes and Mr Eddie Palmer, who got three votes. The position of First Vice-Chairman went to the former Member of Parliament, Alhaji Ismaili Bawa, who polled 99 after defeating Mr B.S. Akwetey who had 50 ballots.

Mr Djangbah Vanderpuye retained his Regional Secretary position after defeating Mr Mohammed Suraj with 130 votes to 19 ballots. The position of Deputy Regional Secretary went to Mr Theophilus Tetteh, who beat two other contestants, Mr Isaac Adjei and Mr P.K. Aponi.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Danny Annan thanked the electorate for the confidence reposed him.

He called for hardwork, unity and dedication from the members to enable the party win the 2008 elections. The outgoing Chairman, Mr Joshua Alabi stressed the need for unity among leading members of the party and urged the youth to work hard to ensure a resounding victory come 2008.
