NDC opens nomination today

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will from today, Thursday, August 27, open nominations for the party’s November 7 presidential and parliamentary primaries.

Parliamentary aspirants are expected to pick nomination forms at constituency offices while presidential aspirants will do so at the party’s office.

Nominations are scheduled to close on Thursday, September 10.

While parliamentary candidates are to file their nomination forms at a fee of GH¢10,000, presidential candidates will do so at GH¢50,000.

According to sources, it is highly unlikely that current leader and president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, will be challenged.

He is expected to pick his forms next week.

The NDC will open voting during the primaries for each and every member of the party, a first for any political party in Ghana.

Female members have been given 50 per cent rebate on the filing fees.

The party is seeking an unprecedented third consecutive victory in Ghana elections.
