An aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Asokwa Constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has disclosed that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) tried to bribe him to close his eyes to the ills of the NDC government.
“The NDC tried bribing me to keep quiet about the moribund NDC administration,” he told delegates at the Ahensan Community Centre.
Mr. Jumah, alias Kofi Ghana, explained the move by the NDC, which, he said, was refused, is the fact that the NDC is afraid of his tenacity.
He, however, sounded a word of caution to the ruling party that he would still be around and work towards the exit of the NDC.
The aspirant indicated: “I am still in the game, so the NDC will have to run for cover because I will mount an unprecedented campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo.”
Mr. Jumah assured the delegates that he will sacrifice for the party, and appealed to them to give him the nod to lead the Asokwa Constituency.
According to him, he will sacrifice to woo industrial firms such as Sawoud Timbers, Coca-Cola, Guinness Ghana Limited and other investors to the Asokwa Constituency to enhance employment towards restoring the constituency as an industrial hub.
Kofi Ghana disclosed to the delegates that he has the Asokwa Constituency at heart, and would bring on investors to Asokwa to help the masses get employment and redeem the lost image of Ahensan as Kumasi’s industrial area.
Kofi Ghana revealed that Asokwa will soon be the new centre of Kumasi.
The former Mayor of Kumasi told the delegates that education, roads and industrialisation are his priorities, and disclosed that he is still looking for investors to come and operate businesses in Asokwa.
He told the delegates that being a Member of Parliament means using one’s brains to help develop the Constituency, and that MPs should be able to attract investors.
The ex-KMA boss announced that he has talked to the AFD organisation about extending the dual carriage way of the Lake Road to facilitate transportation along the route to Atonsu, Ahensan, Jachie, Esreso and other commuting towns.
Kofi Ghana appealed to the delegates to vote for him on June 13, 2015 to become the parliamentary candidate for the Asokwa NPP.
