NDC, NPP supporters clash in Efutu

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Efutu Constituency in the Central Region this afternoon clashed over misunderstandings yet to be explained by both sides.

XYZ News’ Central Regional correspondent, Awal Mohammed reported that the incident occurred at about 3:00PM on Monday when the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the area, Alexander Afenyo Martin, was reportedly attacked by NDC supporters on his way back from a mini rally.

According to eyewitnesses, the NDC supporters attacked Mr. Afenyo Martin who also called for help from his supporters before other people joined in the clash.

About a dozen supporters of both parties sustained various degrees of injury in the onslaught and the Police in the are has given the injured medical forms to seek treatment at the Winneba Government Hospital.

Meanwhile, all attempts to reach Mr. Afenyo Markin and the NDC supporters for their sides of the story have proven futile but the police are currently investigating the matter.
