NDC not stuck in power struggles – Mahama

In his message to the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of this morning’s primaries, President John Dramani Mahama wants a proof that “in our party, we are not stuck in power struggles”. He said the primaries, which will take place in all but six constituencies, will prove that NDC is a party which gives every member a voice.

“And everybody has a chance to become a candidate.”

He charged members to show that the party, founded in 1993, is representative of inclusive democracy.

President Mahama, who is also the leader of the NDC, listed empowerment of the powerless, strengthening equality and voice to everyone as ideals the party holds dear.

“Let every Ghanaian be inspired by our ideals, let your brothers and sisters in the NDC be proud of you,” the message on the eve of the nationwide primaries said.

The party goes to the polls on Saturday, November 21 to elect its presidential and parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections. All registered members are expected to cast their ballots, an opening which is said to be a first for any political party in Ghana.
