Mr. Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), appears to be taking his job very seriously.
Like his boss, former President Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi is determined to remain loyal to the NDC and to avoid any actions which may suggest dual loyalty.
Kofi doubles as a spokesperson for Mr. Rawlings and has had to work closely with the former first family whiles maintaining his position in the ruling party.
Over the last couple of days, he has flatly refused to join the NDC bashing campaign members of the Nana Konadu-led National Democratic Party (NDP).
In his first comment on the claim that the President is surrounded by “greedy thieves,” Kofi said emphatically that Dr. Josiah Aryeh, who made the claim, has no basis.
He also said the comment was needless.
Dr. Josiah Aryeh is the National Chairman of the NDP whose first constitution described Mr. and Mrs. Rawlings as its founders. Recently leaders of the NDP have addressed Mrs. Rawlings as the sole founder of the NDP.
Mr. Rawlings has on several occasions urged the people of Ghana to support President Mahama in his fight against corruption. Whiles Kofi Adams makes it clear that his loyalty is with the NDC, he has been careful not to directly criticize the former first lady.
Occasionally, he has described Nana Konadu as a hardworking patriot who loves her country. But, there can be no doubt about where Kofi Adams stands in the political equation of Ghana today.
He is a true and true, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The issue is whether Mrs. Rawlings can continue to tolerate his political independence for a very long time?
