NDC MP: Ghana will elect a drug baron as president if…

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, has hinted that if the National Security agency in the country do not take heavy precautions to combat drug tycoons in the country, there will be a time Ghana would be forced to elect a drug baron as a head of state.

According to him, though fighting these alleged drug dealers are challenging, he applauds the security agencies for their effort to have arrested some in previous times and urged them to help fight them.

“We have to congratulate the government and the Narcotics Control Board for their good effort… Their job is very tempting and challenging. For them to help combat these barons, is a plus for them as well as the police service and the military,” he said.

Reacting to the recent arrest of Mr. Solomon Adelaquaye, Managing Director of Sohin Security Company, in the United State for drug trafficking, the NDC MP said the way and manner the drug dealers operate, the country is likely to elect one as a president without knowing.

“If you look at the operating systems of these alleged drug barons, if caution is not taken, Ghana will one day elect one as president to rule us. We can elect a drug baron as a vice president as well as ministers of state. We all know we had a drug baron as a member of parliament, so it is likely to have one as a president,” he said.

Mr. Solomon Adelaquaye who is purported to be the security boss of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) was busted in the United State of America as part of a drug trafficking syndicate.

The drug dealer is an alleged financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking on Asempa FM, Hon. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie opined: “This is not the time for any politicization. We must address these issues. We must help the government fight this with other security agencies. Though we cannot fully stop this, we must help the government fight drug peddlers. No government has been able to fight this people to the end”.
