NDC members advised against being discouraged

Kumasi, Dec 29, GNA – A top National Democratic Congress (NDC) member has advised party members not to be discouraged or downhearted because of the party’s inability to win the general elections. Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, said instead of being discouraged they should take pride in the good performance of the party at the elections.

Mr Nti-Fordjour gave the advice when he addressed a thanksgiving service organised in Kumasi by the Asawasi constituency secretariat of the NDC.

Representatives of the various political parties, Muslim and Christian clerics, party supporters and members of the general public attended the service.

“Even though we lost the elections it still remains a fact that our performance was unprecedented and worth commendation,” he said. Dr Adamu Gibiril, the Member of Parliament-Elect for Asawasi, commended the Electoral Commission and the security services for their excellent work that paved the way for violent free and successful elections.

He also expressed his gratitude to the constituents for electing him and gave the assurance that he would work hard. Dr Gibiril appealed to all party members and sympathisers to begin the campaign for the 2008 elections.

Alhaji Suleimana Gado, NDC Chairman for the Asawasi constituency, called on the electorate to go beyond electing Dr Gibiril as their MP by giving him support and co-operation to make his election beneficial to the constituency.
