NDC Man Slams Ama Benyiwa Doe

A Legal practitioner and a member of the National Democratic Congress, James Agalga says comments by Central Region Minister blaming the recent communal violence between Ewes and Fantes in her region on Assin North MP Kennedy Agyapong are unwarranted .

Ama Benyiwa Doe believes Mr. Agyapong’s recent war declaration against Ewes and Gas by Akans is to blame for the recent violence in Ekumfi which claimed three lives.

But speaking on RADIO XYZ’s current affairs programme, the Analyst on Saturday, Mr James Agalga said the Central regional minister’s comments could ignite violence.

“The regional minister ought not to have made those statements because the statements have in itself the potential to incite violence” Mr. Agalga said adding that “I expected her to be conciliatory on that occasion”.

The violence was sparked by the beheading and burial of the head of a Royal Fante family, Nana Eguase, which led to a reprisal attack by Fantes in the region. Two other casualties were recorded and some houses were burnt down.
