NDC is equally as guilty as NPP – Kweku Baako

“I recounted how at rallies and demonstrations organized by the NPP both within and outside Ghana in support of their petition, a conscious effort has been made to attack and run down several state organizations such as the Electoral Commission, the Supreme Court (for which reason no less a personality than the General Secretary of the NPP was convicted for intentional criminal contempt last week), the Police, and the president.

I singled out the demonstration organized by a handful of NPP supporters when President John Mahama visited the U.K recently and noted the unprintable abuses and insults hurled at him by the demonstrators and indicated that acts like these could send wrong signals to the international community and could project us in negative light as an unstable country”

The above comment is a portion of a statement issued by Deputy Minister of Information, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, denying a publication circulating in the media. The above is one of the issues he claims to have actually raised during a discussion on Metro TV.

However, Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper is of the view that even if the Deputy Minister was misconstrued in an earlier publication, his rejoinder is still pointing accusing fingers at the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said if the Deputy Minister will be honest to himself in terms of discussing people who have in a way, tarnished the image of the country, “he will accept that such act is not peculiar to the NPP”.

He referred to the Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, as one of the many who has indulged in ‘projecting the country in a bad light’.

“Rawlings is number one perpetrator in this act…Jerry Rawlings wrote a petition to Bush, Obasanjo, AU on Ghana’s election process; accusing the NPP and EC of plotting to rig election 2004. He went to sit at Holland and targeted the police, the judiciary and the president on the issue of Yaa Naa… When the Supreme Court ruled 6:5 against Tsatsu Tsikata (lead counsel for the NDC in the election petition), NDC issued a statement and circulated to all international…we are talking about undermining the integrity of institutions of states… even in this recent days you (NDC) are as guilty as the people you are pointing accusing fingers at…If we are talking of attack within and outside Ghana on President, Supreme Court, police, Electoral Commission, as a sub culture in our body politics, it is not the copyright of the NPP” he recounted on “Kokrokoo”.
