NDC Is An Orphan – MP

Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been called upon to cultivate the habit of making financial contribution towards the running of the party, if they want to recapture political power in 2004. This, according to Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, I. K. Adjei-Mensah has become imperative because ”the party has now become an orphan as a result of serious financial problems”.

Addressing party executives from the Brong Ahafo Region at an extraordinary meeting, Mr Adjei-Mensah noted that it would be difficult for the party to get people to join their campaign train in 2004 since such people might be required to foot their own bills, ”something which NPP members did in both 1996 and 2000 without hesitation”.

”The NPP now has enough money than we have, so there is the need for extra commitment which should surpass theirs”, he urged the party activists. Speaking on the state of economy, the MP for Wenchi West, Johnson Asiedu Nketia urged Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Finance and Economic Planning Minister to build an executive cell at the Nsawam Medium Prison as he would surely land there after the NPP’s administration.

”It would be better to prepare a place for himself in the prison now that he controls the nation’s resources”, he added.
