NDC inaugurates women’s wing at Kpone-Katamanso.

Kpone, (GAR) July 05, GNA — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated 46-member committee of the women’s wing into office at the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency in the Tema Municipality.

Delivering the inaugural speech, NDC National First Deputy Women’s Organizer, Hajia Miriam Sinare called on the party’s women to unite in order to attain power in the 2008 elections.

According to her, women were the dominant population in the country as well as in the NDC, therefore there was the need for them to unite and support the men in their quest to win power for the people. On his part, the NDC Greater Accra Chairman, Mr Danny Annang noted that, the party’s women wing must be dedicated to enable them to maintain their seats and win the 2008 elections, which he said would be a tough contest.

He further advised the women to team up and campaign vigorously for the party instead of wasting time on gossiping and backbiting.

The Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, touching on some of the flaws of the present government said due to the increase narcotic cases in the country, Ghana has lost its reputation of a promising country to that of a transit point for narcotic operators.

He further accused the ruling party of neglecting the welfare of the public in view of the adverse effects the electricity load shedding regime was having on the people and their businesses.
