NDC in Ketu denounces demonstrators

Agbozume (V/R), July 14, GNA – The Ketu South Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denounced a group calling itself “National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth for Development.”

The group, numbering 30, took to the streets to demand the dismissal of the Ketu South District Chief Executive (DCE) for alleged non-performance.

Mr Marshal Ackumey, Ketu-South Chairman NDC Constituency Chairman, told journalists at Agbozume that the stand of the group did not reflect the views of the people in the district.

“It is evident that the radical persons in the group’s last Friday demonstration are not NDC activists with even some demonstrators in New Patriotic Party paraphernalia,” he said.

Mr Ackumey said the demonstrators were from Aflao and did not represent all the wards in the constituency.

“These boys are being manipulated by our political opponents for an advantage in 2012,” he alleged.

Mr Ackumey said the NDC has a four-year mandate and cannot therefore be judged to have failed now.

Mr Ackumey who alleged that he was threatened and insulted by some persons through text messages said he could confirm that those who threatened him were linked to the demonstrators given the tone of their protests.
