NDC group returns keys of NHIA offices

An NDC group in the Savelugu Nanton District of the Northern region has handed in keys to offices of the National Health Insurance Authority, which it locked up last Friday.

The decision was arrived at following series of discussions involving the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Prince Askia Mohammed, opinion leaders and the youth on Saturday.

The M.C.E, Prince Askia Mohammed who confirmed the development to Joynews, said the youth were made to appreciate the implications of their action and limits of their power as well as the need to use appropriate channels of redress.

Asked why the irate youth were not arrested for prosecution, the MCE defended the use of dialogue and alternative dispute resolution to ensure peaceful co-existence in the district.

The youth believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), last Friday locked up offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Savelugu district of the Northern region.

Their action was in protest of reported appointment of three NHIS scheme management personnel, who were not natives of the area.
