NDC gets 10% from each GETFund project – Party Officer alleges

A former Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jaman South Constituency, Vasco Kojo Tanoh, says despite the NDC allegedly earning 10% of the contract sum of each GETFund project that has been executed in the area, its activities have seen little progress.

According to him, the over GH¢125,000.00 earned from three projects over the last couple of months have ended up in the pockets of some individuals much to the detriment of the party.

He told Kwaku Owusu Adjei in an interview on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Monday that party functionaries who have been benefitting from GETFund projects have not been helpful in funding the activities of the party.

The neglect of the party, he noted, spurred his resignation as a communications officer.

“When I asked for logistics and mobility tools to enable the communications team to improve on its performance, they said there is no money. Meanwhile, those in the helm of affairs are progressing in life.”

“A budget proposal worth GH¢1,200.00 was presented to the DCE for logistics but she complained bitterly that we have presented a huge budget. She is always complaining of not having been paid her salary. During the primaries, she was able to provide GH¢20.00 to each of the delegates in the various towns and villages under the constituency,” he noted.

The constituency chairman, he noted, has also not been helpful despite spearheading all the GETFund projects in the area.

He said because the chairman and the DCE are all eyeing the parliamentary seat in the constituency, they prefer using their money on their own campaign other than the party machinery in the area.

Such a situation, he argued, is stifling progress of the party in the constituency.

“Our chairman has undertaken three GETFund projects out of which 10% from each of the project should have come to the accounts of the party for it to be used in managing the party. Each of the projects cost over GH¢300,000.00.”

So, the DCE is saying that if the party chairman does not declare all the percentages of money he has pocketed, she is also not going to do so. The two have hijacked the 10% of the GETFund cash that should have gone to the party coffers. The two are just chopping our money and I can’t let this to go on but to resign.”
